Tales To Be Told is a compilation album of songs that aren't part of the story sets. It contains a mixture of crew member backstory songs, Kickstarter perk songs, and miscellaneous standalone songs.

A collection of those smaller tales that the Mechanisms have been known to tell. Some of these are rarities you'll never hear unless you buy the Mechs a round. Some are works in progress that will sometime find their way elsewhere. Some are secrets... Enjoy.

Tracks[]

The Ballad of Lil Lemon[]

This track was removed from distribution on the 26th of June 2020, due to racist, specifically anti-Chinese, themes in one of the verses.[2]

A standalone song about an RPG character played by a friend of the band in a Deadlands campaign.

Cast[]

One Eyed Jack's[]

A song about the backstory of Jonny d'Ville.

Cast[]

Iphis[]

Written for a backer of the Ulysses Dies at Dawn Kickstarter.

A retelling of the Greek myth of Iphis, set in the City. Iphis is rebodied using Acheron technology, using money provided by the Olympian Isis on condition that Iphis will "come when [Isis] calls" - which, in true Mechanisms fashion, ends up being the first day after Iphis and Ianthe finally get married.

Cast[]

Prometheus[]

Written for a backer of the Ulysses Dies at Dawn Kickstarter.

A retelling of the Greek myth of Prometheus, set in the City. Framed as a popular song playing on a rebel radio station in Ilium during the war, this song sings the praises of folk hero Prometheus, a computer hacker who broke through the firewall preventing Ilium from accessing the rest of the world. The fiction The Hacker's Mistake shows an alternate side of events...

Redeath[]

Written for a backer of the Ulysses Dies at Dawn Kickstarter.

A standalone song about a planet falling into a sun and being reborn, like a phoenix.

The Ignominious Demise of Dr. Pilchard[]

Written for a backer of the Ulysses Dies at Dawn Kickstarter.

A standalone song about a scientist named Dr. Pilchard taking the whole crew prisoner in order to learn the secret of their immortality.

The song is loosely inspired by the Firefly episode Objects in Space. The name Dr. Pilchard was requested by the backer.

Cast[]

Gunpowder Tim vs The Moon Kaiser[]

A set of four songs about the backstory of Gunpowder Tim.

Cast[]

Pellinore and The Beast[]

A retelling of the Arthurian legend of Sir Pellinore and the Questing Beast.
